The KL Startup Hub transforming Malaysia Libraries and Resource Centres into a thriving center for entrepreneurship and community empowerment
ILMUPRENEURS embodies a simple yet profound vision: "You don't need RM10k to start. You just need a library card." This initiative transforms public library infrastructure into an engine of economic empowerment, creating a dynamic ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and community resilience.
Our mission extends beyond building unicorns. We empower real people—nasi lemak sellers, tuition teachers, craft makers, and digital freelancers—to build sustainable livelihoods. By leveraging the trusted public institution of Malaysia Libraries and Resource Centres, with its 89% trust rate among Malaysians and prime central locations, we create a safe, neutral, and welcoming environment for all aspiring entrepreneurs.
Kuala Lumpur represents a city of immense growth and potential, yet not all residents benefit equally from its prosperity. Youth unemployment stood at 10.2% in Q3 2025, while systemic barriers continue to exclude non-English speakers, informal workers, and low-income individuals from traditional startup ecosystems. The high cost of business entry, often requiring upwards of RM10,000 in capital, further exacerbates this exclusion.
ILMUPRENEURS addresses these challenges head-on by democratizing access to entrepreneurial resources. Through our partnership with Malaysia Libraries and Resource Centres and DBKL, we leverage existing public infrastructure to create a zero-cost, high-impact program that aligns with national strategic goals including MADANI principles (Ketelusan, Kesejahteraan, Ketangkasan), the KL 2030 plan, and SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth).
We serve everyone from B40 families to seniors, teenagers to seasoned professionals. No one is left behind in the entrepreneurial journey.
Building a supportive network where entrepreneurs learn from each other, share resources, and grow together through collaboration.
Embracing digital tools, AI technology, and modern entrepreneurial methods while remaining accessible to all skill levels.
Providing practical skills, real resources, and genuine support to help individuals build sustainable livelihoods and achieve economic independence.
Our strategic partnership with Malaysia Libraries and Resource Centres brings together the best of public knowledge infrastructure and entrepreneurial support. This collaboration provides our members with access to extensive research databases, quiet study spaces, meeting rooms, and a professional environment conducive to focused work and learning.
The library's commitment to community education aligns perfectly with our mission to democratize entrepreneurship. Together, we have created programs that bridge the gap between traditional library services and modern startup needs, making entrepreneurship accessible to all Malaysians regardless of background or economic status.
